Summary:
This is a dark themed story driven quest mod for Skyrim. Like a real story, it is split into chapters which will be added one by one as the development moves on.


Warnings (read this before downloading):
Content Warning:
The story of this mod features dark adult themes like slavery, reluctance, blackmail, non-consentual sex, humilation and so on. Its not over the top (at least not yet) stuff, but if this direction is not your cup of tea, don't bother to download it.

Length Warning:
Every minute you play takes several hours to create in a story driven mod. Don't expect this to be another Dawnguard. Right now the very first chapter is finished. Its more like a preview (which also means - don't expect any orgies just yet)

Bug Warning:
There are probably quite a few bugs in the mod, which I hope to find and fix of course. However many bugs are just caused by Skyrim/The Creation Kit itself. When I tested the mod, sometimes some action in a scene just failed for no reason at all and it got stuck. Most times I could compelte the mod without any problems tho - however if you get stuck in a scene or dialog, just reloading and doing it again fixes it most of the times.

  • You need to have a FEMALE PLAYER CHARACTER

Incompabilities:
Custom Skeletons are very likely not going to work / fit with the mods animation. For the XP32 Maximum Skeleton there is a compatibilty mode: Select the Dark Investigation Settings Spell in your Magic Menu and turn on this mode if you are using this skeleton. The vanilla will provide better results however.
- While I tried to avoid messing up any vanilla quests, due to bugs and pathing issues I can't promise that I succeeded in it. Therefore I do recommend to only keep this mod loaded while you play it - it won't do anything after you have the quest done anyway. No edits on your character or anything are done.

  • Ultimate Follower Overhaul

Installation:
1. Download and install all required mods listed above
2. Download this mod and unzip it into your data directory
3. Run the GenerateFNISforUsers.exe which was provided with FNIS and is in your /data/tools directory
4. Play smile.png


Quest:
- The quest is started by the courier. Just go into any city after the mod is loaded.


Trouble Shooting:
My custom PC looks strange / manly / bulky / is missing custom features
Move dip.esp up in the load order

Anray keeps being a follower even when he should have left already / The door guard won't let me in telling me companions are not allowed / Anray won't follow me, telling me to get rid of compainions
Disable any custom follower mods, like UFO, and restart Dark Investigations.

In scenes my PC or other Actors just stand arround like ragdolls when they should be doing something
Makes sure you have FNIS installed properly and ran the user tool as described in the installation notes

A scene stops and doesn't moves on / Strange things happens / Actors are attacking each other
Load the last save outside the cell where the cell where the trouble began (in most cases the last autosave) and try again.

I still can't get it to work / something won't happen / someone won't speak to me / some script won't start
Make sure you use the most current Skyrim Version (>= 1.8).
Remove / disable all not required mods (you can backup your data folder before to easily restore everything back once your are finished). Make sure the /data/scripts folder is empty as scripts from other mods with the same name could break the mod. Then reinstall DI, use a clean save (or create a new character by starting a new game - in no case use a save which you created while DI was already active before) and try again. If that still does not work, feel free to post here in this thread asking for support

Animation Artists
I have to use existing animations for the sex scenes in the mod. While many of them are very well done, most are not perfect for the actual scenes I have in mind. For example, some are "one-piece" animations which don't allow me to set the proper timing, others don't quite fit the action (like looking to consentual when it is not in the scene) and several do not exist at all (groping, undressing, etc). On the off chance that someone with skill in this area comes along and wants to provide an animation tailored for this story, please contact me.

- Added story to provide proper closure for the first chapter. What happened to Daniy, Erach and Nodyme? Find out and head back to their farm after your freed Daniy (don't use a savegame from previous versions). Proper investigators may also find an item which will be usefull in the next chapter.

"Progress" 2

Noticed the quotation marks in the title? Scanned this post and not finding any download links for a new version? Fearing the worst? Well, here are the good news: The world is not going to end in a bloody zombie apocalypse (not just yet anyway). See? It's not so bad after all.
As for Dark Investigations and it's progress however it can be best summoned up with: I was pretty lazy during the last month. It was summer, I was young and I had other stuff to do than sitting in front of some screens working on this mod. I finished some new dialog, tested the finished animations in some mock-up scene and fixed some minor stuff, but all in all not much got done. So there you have it.

Now, this being a hobby for me, I have the distinct advantage that the complains and customer service procedures  are very biased in my favor BUT me taking breaks is not a bad thing for the mod in the end, as it keeps my interest in working on it alive. You may have noticed that several mods which have an uninterrupted, high activity tend to burn out at some point - which is not surprising as the authors (often) do have a life outside of Skyrim which catches up with them sooner or later.

In any case, I restarted working on the content recently and a new voice actor applied for Tursam's role too. Of course I am still looking for more voice actors (and animators, graphic artists, etc) particularly for the remaining unvoiced female characters.

  6. I do not deny that I come here every day and wait for progress in your quest. But I think (I hope) that all everyone realizes that you have a life outside of Skyrim.
    Very foolish to demand something from you, it's not a job, right? Just a fad that is liked around and quickly get used to the good.

  7. Please add "Another Sleep Mod" as an incompatible mod. It animates the player entering and exiting the bed and interferes with the Prologue scene where the player is in the bed at the Bright Path Inn.

  8. All I've said is "Mod's dead." and we have a nice little "progress" here lol. I knew this was the only way we could heard something from you. Look, I know it's just a hobby for you and we're not demanding anything, But if we don't see anything in months of course we'll think you might have quited. All we are asking is a sign that you're not dead. You can even say something like "I ain't done shit this month.". We're ok with that. At least we'd know that you're still in for it. Anyway it's good to know someone's finally voice acting Tursam.

  11. I Like your MOD,and I want to make one like this,but I do not know where can learn to use the CK, How to use the animations and many other CK use, to make i hope the MOD Scenes .Maybe your can give me some help.

    I tentative plan a scenes,In Bright Inn,The Dragonbon beat Inn boss(I forgoe his name...),boss say,he can give the key to Dragonborn,do not kill him.make a Options Dragonborn kill the boss,or tell the boss to open th door,or Dragonborn take the key to open the door,when you Election last one,the boss will passed out Dragonborn and fuck her...but it you know,I do not know how to use the CK,and do not know to make the animations....I want to learn,3DMAX Tutorials it easy to find....but where can find the MOD Tutorials...

  12. Someone commented saying that Athstai has already stated he won't be using SexLab, is this true? Though it wouldn't be a 'dependency' as much as a huge aid and would add far more depth to the scenarios allowing for the story to branch out thanks to Sexlab plugins. I.e. procreation, ofcourse such plugins are useless without SexLab :/

      "I try to avoid adding dependencies to other mods as much as possible, because it makes installing Dark Investigation more complicated for users. I also do not need any framework (script wise) for my mod - all current required mods (Sexis, ASX) are "only" there because of the animation files which I cannot just copy over without permission.
      Loverslab would also require SkyUI and SKSE as additional requirements, which are not needed for Dark Investigations.

      So the answer is: I would prefer not to use Sexlab and plan to remove the dependency at least for ASX when I find some time to create a replacement animation. Because several animators allow using their work in other mods (like Arrok) and some scenes in DI continue to have self-made animations I hope that in the end I will not have to rely on any framework mod."

      I like SexLab, but this makes a lot of sense too. Just install DI and it'sready.

  13. The newer animations used in SexLab are almost all from Arrak who has freely allowed their use in any mod.

    Any of the animations that will help with this project are therefore available without having to include a requirement for that mod.

    Having experimented with some of those mods and forcing sex with various characters in this mod often means breaking this mod's scripts and departing from the story in a breaking way.

    I would say that if you are playing through this mod you do not want to have other mods deciding that because you are naked someone else should start having sex (with you or someone else).

    The best thing to do would to be to disable those other mods so they don't interfere with the story in this mod.

    Bottom line: SexLab is already going to cause future trouble because people will try this mod with some of those features enabled and inject sex acts into the story in a breaking way.

    I think it would be a good idea to note in the Mod Requirements that other sex mods ought to be disabled whenever you are working on part of this story simply to prevent the injection of story breaking actions.

  16. Something i always ask myself is will the Owner utilize all the other skills?
    what i mean is in the most mods there is none or very low realization that the character you play is a very Powerful (in terms of killing stuff). i mean you could totaly use her for your own needs but also let People disaper by her..
    if no because to difficult or the story has a path that would not allow something like that i wont say anything but if there is the possiblity why dont do it.

      "Unfortunatly the progress is very slow at this point, as I am busy with other stuff (and voice actors seem to be lazy too ;) ). So no, at this time there will be no update. There WILL be a new version and a next chapter, but I can't say when."

    Just getting a bit bored by many of the other Mods - there are so many Mods for frameworks or changes of game-mechanics, that you never could count them. And they usually get boring pretty fast (at least to me)

    But how many good Adult Mods are there, that actually tell a story and are not just "talk NPC, f**k NPC"? Bet you could count those on one hand.

    Thats why I played through DI about ten times - because there are so many details. And for the weekend I am planning another go - this time with a Character exactly as mentioned in the order book (Kajit female iirc). Am curious, if that will also trigger something... ;)

    1. I think there are several reasons for this. The most important is probably that creating a story mod has a bad "invested time vs. playtime" ratio. It took about as much work to create these first two chapters as creating a well done framework mod, but while you (and the users) will use the framework all the time from then on, the story mod is over in two hours and there is little reason to replay it (for most people :) ). As a modders it seems to be more promising investing your time into something people will then use all the time, rather than a mod which is over in a flash untill the next update is done - which takes jsut as much time as writing a second framework mod.
      Also story mods cannot really be played by the author - after seeing each scene hundrets of times to get everything right when creating it, there is little point in playing the story yourself while you can use your framework in your own game just fine as it is generic.
      Last but not least I do like to think that it is also a matter of skill, telling a interesting story and being able to matrialize it in the Creation kit - but that might jsut be my ego talking :P

      I do agree tho, I prefer stories-driven mods much more than those focused on game-mechanics (which of course are still nice) - and well that's why I do work on this mod and actually enjoy creating it. Just not 24/7 :P

  24. Great to hear this mod is still being worked on. :)

    Funnily enough I'm also happy that you're not relying on the Sexlab Framework. Whilst there's no denying that it's awesome, and the extra scenes would be a good feature, I could never get them to line up as brilliantly as the scenes in this mod do. And as good as the framework is, they clearly look like 3rd party animations, whereas these look almost vanilla.

  25. I was wondering if any one could point me in the direction of some guides on how to create the different parts of a story mod. I know how to create dialogue in the reation kit, how to create weapons and enchants, how to create buildings and interiors, and how to create quest, I just don't know how to implement the various animations into scenes. Like for example when in conversation you select the dialouge for some sex scene how to have that happen afterwards i can write the dialouge for it but don't know how to get the animation to play. If any body knows of any good guides that would be much appreciated. Great mod by the way can't wait for the next update.

    1. Well, it's actually pretty straight forward. I assume you are already familiar with the Scenes tab in the CK. All you have to do is declare a Idle in the properties, and then at the point when you want to play the animation use YourActorRef.GetActorRef().PlayIdle(YourAnimation)

      You have to make sure that the Actor isn't doing anything else at this time (for example by assigning him a package which lets him do nothing) and you should probably use a time to wait for the animation to finish. And really that's that.

      If you want to use your own or custom animations, you have to get familiar with FNIS, which isn't hard either and if you google it your will probably find lots of how-tos.
